Similarly, proper heat treatments are given to the pin, Bushes and Rollers according to the material used for each and after proper testing the material are sent to the assembly section for the assembly of chain.

We have the most modern power presses imbibing the latest technology. The presses are operated by well-trained persons to achieve the absolute perfection. Side links of all type of Chains are punched with compound dies to achieve the accurate pitch. After heat treatment the side links are tested for alignment crack detecting, hardness testing etc. by the experienced technicians and then passed on the assembly section.

GEE ESS employs several heat-treating processes to improve the material characteristics. The heat-treating process used in each application is determined by IS standards & as per requirements of materials specified.

We have our own in house Metrological Laboratory. Inspection of material is done at every stage right from incoming of raw material to final packing. Management System is in line with the ISO 9001:2000 Certified Quality Goods. Material composition is tested on the spectrometer and Breaking Load Test is performed on the Universal Testing Machine at the government certified testing facilities. Every care is Taken to Control the Quality and ensure the Customer Satisfaction.



METALLURGICAL DATA



GEC chains and components are provided in a variety of Cast, Forged and Fabricated Materials. Choice of these materials Is determined by suitability for service the service requirement, availability, and cast.



The major consideration in the steel selection for chain and its components is its Harden ability, to attain the required strength and wear resistance and to obtain the proper hardness, medium carbon steel is used for components requiring through hardening. Low carbon steel is used for the components which require carburizing and various alloy Steel and stainless steel as per the required hardening demanded by the application and use for chain .Application of the chain in the extremely corrosive environment generally requires the use of stainless-steel components.



COMPONENTS



  • Chain Side Links (Or Side Plates) are tensile members of a chain and determine the Chain Pitch.Side Links can be of straight and offset construction as required by the customers. For additional strength Side links are hardened & tempered for optimum wear and longer life of Chain.
  • Chain Pins connect the chain links. They are locked in the side links by an interference fit so all relative rotation occurs between pin and bush. Pins are finally through hardened or case hardened or carburized and ground depending on the application .Pins can also be plated for the increased corrosion resistance .
  • Chain bushes provide the bearing for pin rotation and for the rollers or sprockets (For Roller less Chains). Bushes are case carburized and ground.
  • Chain Rollers, unlike Side Links, pins and bushes are not essential to basic chain construction.However ,the rollers serve as an important part of chain. Rollers reduce coefficient of friction in conveyor applications by rolling instead of sliding, minimize sprocket scrubbing as chain enters and leaves a sprocket. Rollers are carburized for required strength and hardness.


STAINLESS STEEL APPLICATIONS



  • Generally, Round parts of chain (pins & bushes) are manufactured from a heat treatable grade of stainless steel e.g. 400 series and 300 series is used according to the requirement and demand of the Customer where application is under higher temperature and more corrosive atmospheric conditions. The data above is intended as a guide to the type and quality of material is being used in the Chain Manufactured. These Materials have been evolved over decades during which research have been carried out and a wealth of experience gained.


  • Different types of drop forged and malleable steel links are also made for better working of chains which are being used in the corrosive environment. We also use Specially Rolled Materials specified by the customer, for chains and components. Material is cast and rolled by our approved vendors and then tested in the Government Approved ISO 9001 Certified Laboratory to ensure the quality of Raw Materials.
